Metal Gear Solid sounds in your iphone....................!!!!!

_So i was listening to a podcast and they had the Super Mario coin grab sound go off every time someone made a good point. I thought it was pretty clever with it being a show about gaming. I figured i would steal that idea and flip it by putting the sounds of Metal Gear Solid on my phone. A lot of searching and a couple hours later i was able to get my Iphone to play the Codec sound when i got calls, and the 'getting spotted' sound when i received a text message. A few people have been asking me how i did it and can i send them the files. So here you have it:

Metal Gear Sounds

_if you have any modern smartphone you should be able to just take the mp3 file and assign them as a ringtone. with the iphone its a little more complicated. if your phone is not Jailbroken THIS WONT WORK.

  • first you need to download ibrickr.navigate through ibrickr to the directory /System/Library/Audio/UISound.
  • here you are going to upload the phone sms-received1.caf to this folder. (this will change the sound 'Tri-Tone' to the 'got spotted' sound.)
  • next you have to go into iTunes and add the file Codec.m4r to the library. its going to show up under Ringtones in iTunes.
  • Drag that file to your phone
  • Restart your device
  • Enjoy....!
