Dan Funderburgh x Brooks...............................!!!!!

_"Alpe d'Huez is one of the main climbs and has been a stage finish in the Tour de France almost every year since 1976. The first was in 1952, won by Fausto Coppi, at a time when most cyclists were riding Brooks Saddles. The pattern of the Alpe d’Huez impressed on this saddle has been designed by Dan Funderburgh, a wallpaper designer and artist in Brooklyn, NY. His patterns, prints and installations are varied in content but all demonstrate an unabashed love for decorative arts. With influences ranging from Moorish mosaic to American pop art, the work is a repudiation of the fabricated schism between art and decoration. Some of Dan’s work can be found in the collections of the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum and the Miami Museum of Modern Art. Dan loves bicycles and has created wallpaper patterns with bicycle parts."

_FrankenBike is Alive!

About a month in a half ago i decided to start a fixie project. for those not in the know click here. I purchased an old Schwinn Caliente frame off craigslist and decided to strip and paint it. i decided to use a chemical stripper to get the paint off. got most of it but still had to sand it down to make it smooth. 2 days of hard sanding well spend. the painting process went well. had some trouble with the clearcoat. it kept bubbling because i wasnt cleaning it thouroughly. so i had to sand it down on those parts and paint it again. i bought a budget wheel set of ebay. ran in to some problems with the front wheel so i had to get a whole new wheel for the front. then because i got a new wheel, i had to replace the tire and tube.(pain in the ass). so now i have the bike painted and wheels ready to go. I had the local bike shop install the chain, bottom bracket, and crankset. everything went good with that but i realized i didnt have the money for pedals and had to pick them up later. so i buy the pedals and they dont fit. i take them back and purchase another pair from the origial bike shop. i rushed home to put everything together and give my bike a test run. the first 30 mins is dope, then my pedal falls off. apparently i had no idea what i was doing. the pedals were on the wrong sides. long story short. i THINK i get one pedal in good but the crank arm is strippped. got it fixed at the bike shop. rode it home. the OTHER pedal comes off. Now i have to find time to make it to the bike shop with a busy work week. everyone told me i should just buy a bike, but thats too easy. All in all it was a fun yet expensive experience. The bike rides well and is mad fast.. i just need to get my pedal fixed and ill be on my way.
